What is the General Crux of the Neuralink?
Neuralink is basically a company that was founded by Elon Musk back in 2016. It is currently working on creating a brain-computer interface named “the Link”. The idea is that the chip will be embedded into your brain through a surgical process. The chip will then form a direct connection with your brain and you will be able to control it.
The purpose of the chip is that it will be able to decode all the activity going on in your brain and it will also stimulate your brain function. What Neuralink Does
Currently, Neuralink’s main purpose is to help out people who have been paralyzed, so that they would be able to communicate again. Not only that, but Neuralink would also like to help with neurological disorders in the human body. It is believed that Neuralink can also help in enhancing memory, processing speed, and even cognitive abilities.
If it proves to be a success, they also have a lot of plans down the line as well that they would like to accomplish. Right now, it is intended to restore mobility using exoskeletons and robotics, exactly like the Spider-Man example that we mentioned earlier. This would take prosthetics to a whole new level as we tap into the world of robotics.
It is also believed that Neuralink will help in communicating with other people through verbal and non-verbal means. This means that it will allow people to speak and even write for those people who are unable to write.
Another useful feature of Neuralink will also be indicating early signs of neurological conditions such as bipolar disorder, amnesia, epilepsy, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Alzheimer’s, or Parkinson’s disease by tracking brain activity.
Overall if the tests are successfully, Neuralink could definitely be a game changer. Back in January 2024, a man was implanted with the chip and even though he was paralyzed, he was able to play chess with a computer!
